I think about how this protest was met with tear gas and rubber bullets... ...but the white men storming the state capitol in Michigan with assault rifles, screaming in police officers faces (without a mask, of course) was met with such a calm, measured response. Don’t talk to me about the right way to protest. Don’t try to explain why looting is bad, talk to me about why you are not outraged by the murder of a person in custody. White people need to educate themselves. Here's a few places to start: Here are some more resources: There’s a whole section of things you can watch. If you don’t know where else to start, watch something. Put your Netflix and Hulu accounts to work for you. Some of these documentaries and outstanding films might give you a better understanding of what you think you already know. White people have to do more, have to listen more, have to stop pretending we don’t benefit from they way our society is set up. It’s shameful we won’t do better for our brothers and sisters. I don’t get up on my soapbox very often, but I can’t stop thinking about my kids and how worried I am for them. Educate yourselves. School didn’t teach you enough about the institutional racism in this country. You have to listen to the community. Begin by listening to this cop... George Floyd was murdered. Let's not whitewash THIS fact.

Yes this is crazy. They’re supposed to serve and protect and it’s like we as black people intimidate them. This is getting out of hand and it needs to be put to a end.
